Tra Nietzsche e Auschwitz

2019

Adorno's thought can be considered like an attempt, after Nietzsche, to save a form of critical-negative philosophy. Adorno, and more in general Critical Theory, have to be thought like alternative to the several form of postnietzscheian philosophy from Heidegger to Foucault and postmodernist thinkers. However, the internal developments of the Frankfurt School (Habermas, Honneth) shed light on some limits of Adorno's thought.

Il paradigma honnethiano del riconoscimento: interazione, antropogenesi e normatività

2017

"Reification" demonstrates a number of discontinuities with Honneth’s earlier and later works and constitutes a bold attempt to ground a social normative theory on ontological and anthropological grounds. In order to respect the importance of this effort, I try to reconcile some of the more incompatible aspects of this work by pointing to the deep unity of the Honnethian path as a whole. First, I focus on the status of recognition itself, in order to reveal the unity of thought behind the different versions proposed by Honneth. Then, I concentrate on his references to psychoanalysis and evolutionary psychology, in an attempt to bring together the ideas of symbiosis and neonatal imitation. T…

La religión del cuerpo-mercancía: ¿un nuevo opio del pueblo?

2018

The commercial exploitation or more precisely the total capitalist management of the human body erects this as a universal divinity. The direct consequence of this generalized corporal capitalism is the massive depoliticization of the body and, often, the reflection that is dedicated to it. In this article, we seek to reflect on the current practices of bodily modifications within the framework of the changes in the regimes of neoliberal governance in recent decades. This reflection is guided by the revision of central texts of critical theory

Lo sguardo dell’altro: artivismo, ideologia e rappresentazione

2020

In a global context in which society has become spectacle, everything turns into representation (Debord 1967). The phenomenon of nation-states fortification emerges in a problematic way with respect to the neoliberal capital-work relationship (Mezzadra e Nielson 2013). The need to build walls, in fact, is a mode of representation that is exploited for a strategic construction of alterity. The aim of this research is to highlight the “naturalization” of stereotyped imagery, prompted by mediatic and political discourses concerning the migratory phenomenon. Starting from a recognition of the critical thinking of scholars such as Michel Foucault and Louis Marin, the goal of this paper is to tak…

A Lexicon for Italian cinema: A conversation about history, theory and critique

2017

This article represents the outcome of a round table organized and conducted by Giacomo Tagliani about the Lessico del cinema Italiano/Lexicon of Italian Cinema (2014–2016). This research and editorial project comprises three volumes and 21 entries that address the history of Italian cinema through an original and challenging approach, namely to detect a list of conceptual clusters able to provide new perspectives over the heritage of Italian films. In this refined version, the authors who took part in that round table, that is, Roberto De Gaetano (also editor of the volumes), Massimiliano Coviello, Luca Venzi and Francesco Zucconi, outline their involvement in the research project, their s…

Giordano Bruno: quanto può una vita?

2020

Giuliano Montaldo’s Giordano Bruno is a biopic that marks a turn in the history of Italian biographical cinema. This essay analyses this movie in the light of Bruno’s thought, highlighting its relevance for the present “biographical turn” as well as the importance of film theory and practice in the framework of the so-called “Italian Thought”. By considering them as strictly intertwined, the essay aims at underlying the crucial theoretical role played by biopics in the definition of specific key concepts of the present time.
